Dominique Besnehard

Born in Bois Colombes, France, Dominique grew up between Houlgate and Vire in Normandy.

He was noticed early on by Jacques Doillon for his professional qualities and then by Claude Berri who took him under his wing and gave him all the casting work for the films he was producing for Maurice Pialat. He also worked with  Pierre Granier-Deferre, Claude Sautet and especially Jean-Jacques Beineix.

Thanks to all these directors he became one of the most successful talent scouters for French films in the 80’s and he introduced the new profession of casting-director in France.

In 1985 he joins the talent Agency ARTMEDIA and is first responsible not only for the upcoming generation of talents (Sandrine Bonnaire, Beatrice Dalle…) but also for many international celebrities (Sophie Marceau, Nathalie Baye, Christophe Lambert…) and many directors such as Francois Ozon, Cedric Kahn….

In 2006, he creates his own production company with Michel Feller: MON VOISIN PRODUCTIONS. Together they produced more than 15 films and more recently Perfect Mothers by Anne Fontaine, Corps étrangers by Raja Amari and  the series dix pour cent (nominated at the International Emmy Awards).

Les Eblouis by Sarah Suco will be released November 20th, 2019 in France.

In 2008 he created with Marie-France Brière, the Festival Francophone d’Angoulême. This “popular and elegant event” is in its 12th edition and brings together 47,000 spectators.
